Job Title: Shelter Coordinator

Job Description

As a Shelter Coordinator at Open Door Mission, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients. This position involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shelter, managing staff, and working closely with other departments to provide comprehensive support services to those in need.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the intake process for new clients, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance and support.
  • Supervise shelter staff members, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Coordinate with case managers to develop individualized plans for each client to address their specific needs and goals.
  • Monitor the facility to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of client interactions and services provided.
  • Collaborate with community partners to enhance services and resources available to clients.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field.
  • Previous experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in a shelter setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards clients facing difficult circumstances.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
