Job Title: Shelter Coordinator
Job Description
As a Shelter Coordinator at Open Door Mission, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our clients. This position involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shelter, managing staff, and working closely with other departments to provide comprehensive support services to those in need.
Responsibilities:
Manage the intake process for new clients, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance and support.
Supervise shelter staff members, providing guidance and support as needed.
Coordinate with case managers to develop individualized plans for each client to address their specific needs and goals.
Monitor the facility to ensure a safe and secure environment for all residents.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of client interactions and services provided.
Collaborate with community partners to enhance services and resources available to clients.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, or related field.
Previous experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or in a shelter setting.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards clients facing difficult circumstances.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
