About Us

Chevra Kadisha of Houston is a non-profit Jewish organization dedicated to providing the sacred and respectful ritual of Jewish funeral and burial services to the Jewish community in Houston and surrounding areas. We have been serving the community for over 50 years with compassion, dignity, and respect.

We’re Hiring: Funeral Planner

Are you passionate about helping families navigate the difficult process of funeral planning? Do you have a deep understanding of Jewish customs and traditions related to death and burial? If so, we want to hear from you! We are currently looking to add a compassionate and detail-oriented Funeral Planner to our team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Meet with families to discuss their wishes for the funeral service and burial
• Provide guidance and support to families as they make funeral arrangements
• Coordinate with clergy, funeral homes, cemeteries, and other service providers to ensure all aspects of the funeral service run smoothly
• Ensure all paperwork and permits are filed correctly and in a timely manner
• Offer emotional support to families during their time of loss

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in funeral planning or a related field is preferred
• Strong understanding of Jewish customs and traditions related to death and burial
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds
• Detail-oriented and organized
