Job Title: Nursery Technician
Job Description:
- Assist in the propagation, cultivation, and maintenance of a wide variety of plants and trees in the nursery
- Monitor and control plant growth conditions, including temperature, humidity, and light levels
- Perform regular inspections to detect and prevent pest infestations or diseases
- Prune, water, and fertilize plants to promote healthy growth
- Assist in the transplanting of plants into larger containers or outdoor fields
- Operate and maintain nursery equipment, such as tractors, irrigation systems, and hand tools
- Assist customers with plant selection, care advice, and loading of purchases
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a nursery or landscaping environment preferred
- Knowledge of plant species, growth requirements, and common pests and diseases
- Physical fitness to lift and carry heavy plants, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and stand for long periods
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and communicate effectively with customers and colleagues
- Basic understanding of plant propagation techniques, pruning methods, and soil types
