About Us

Greater Ward Ame Church is a thriving African Methodist Episcopal church located in the heart of our community. Our mission is to spread the love of Jesus Christ and serve the needs of our congregation and community through worship, fellowship, and outreach programs.

We are currently seeking a dedicated individual to join our team in the following position:

Position: Music Director

Responsibilities:

• Lead the music ministry of Greater Ward Ame Church, including planning and directing the music for worship services, special events, and other church activities.
• Select appropriate music in coordination with the pastor and other church leaders to enhance the worship experience and communicate the message of the gospel.
• Direct and accompany the church choir and musicians, providing guidance and support to help them grow in their musical abilities and spiritual journey.
• Collaborate with the worship team to create a cohesive and uplifting worship experience that engages the congregation and fosters a sense of community.
• Coordinate music rehearsals, schedules, and special music programs throughout the year.
• Attend staff meetings, church events, and other activities as needed to support the ministry of Greater Ward Ame Church.

Qualifications:

• Proficient in playing the piano or organ and directing a choir.
• Possess a strong understanding of Christian worship music and a commitment to upholding the traditions of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with church members, musicians, and staff.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate rehearsals, services, and special events, including weekends and holidays.
• Previous experience in a similar role at a church or other worship community is preferred.
